Honeywell XNX XNX-UTAV-RHNNN – no sensor (transmitter body), mV, UL, Aluminium, 3/4" NPT

XNX-UTAV-RHNNN is a Honeywell XNX universal transmitter body with the mV personality, UL / cUL, 4 × 3/4" NPT entries, LM25 aluminium (painted), 3 relays + 4–20 mA HART, local HART port on the transmitter, and no MPD sensor in the carton. Order it when the field later fits an MPD catalytic or MPD IR head (CB1 / IV1 / IF1 / IC1) instead of a factory-configured detector.

Why this personality / sensor

The mV personality is the millivolt interface for Honeywell MPD heads. Catalytic and MPD IR share that board; an IR Optima/Excel head will not talk to this SKU, and an electrochemical cell needs the EC personality. Buy a body when the sensor slate is still open or when you stock transmitters separately from MPD cartridges.

Personality and replaceable parts

XNX-UTAV-RHNNN uses the mV personality (MPD catalytic / MPD IR) board and mates with Honeywell MPD catalytic bead or MPD infrared sensors. This SKU ships without a sensor; order the head by gas. Spares live on product-3991. Do not substitute Sensepoint XCD cartridges on XNX.

Typical applications

Typical body SKUs sit in a warehouse next to mixed MPD stock: pump rooms that may take catalytic LEL, biogas roofs that need methane IR, LPG pits that need propane IR, and inerting cabinets that need CO₂. The transmitter is already certified and threaded; you only mate the MPD later.

Installation and wiring

Wall-mount XNX-UTAV-RHNNN (LM25 aluminium (painted), approx. 2.8 kg) on a rigid stand sized for that mass. This SKU uses 4 × 3/4" NPT entries—glands must match; do not retap XNX-UTAV-RHNNN. Land XNX-UTAV-RHNNN 4–20 mA HART per the loop drawing; relays/Modbus/FFB exist only on the matching option board. Magnetic-wand menus on the XNX-UTAV-RHNNN lid stay non-intrusive. XNX-UTAV-RHNNN is a body: wall-mount the transmitter first and mate the head after the personality is confirmed—do not buy a configured SKU until the gas is frozen.

FAQ

Can I add an MPD sensor to XNX-UTAV-RHNNN later?
XNX-UTAV-RHNNN ships as a transmitter body. mV personalities accept MPD CB1/IV1/IF1/IC1 heads; IR personalities need Optima/Excel; EC personalities need XNX electrochemical cells. Do not mix those three families on this board.
Is XNX-UTAV-RHNNN a complete gas detector?
No. XNX-UTAV-RHNNN is electronics and enclosure only. A configured detector has a three-character sensor code such as CB1 instead of NNN.
When should I swap XNX-UTAV-RHNNN aluminium for 316SS?
Use XNX-UTAV-RHNNN (aluminium, ~2.8 kg) in inland, painted plant. Coastal, splash and sour-water decks should move to stainless sibling XNX-UTSV-RHNNN.
Why is XNX-UTAV-RHNNN NPT instead of M25?
XNX-UTAV-RHNNN is the UL/cUL body and ships 3/4" NPT. Do not tap M25 on this lid—order ATEX sibling XNX-AMAV-RHNNN if metric glands are mandatory.
What do the three relays on XNX-UTAV-RHNNN do?
XNX-UTAV-RHNNN adds three configurable relays on top of 4–20 mA HART—typically A1/A2/fault. It is not Modbus; bus siblings are XNX-UTAV-MHNNN / XNX-UTAV-FHNNN.
